VISION 2018 DEVOTIONAL: Week 1
Best practices…
1. Take at least 10 minutes in a quiet place.
2. Very slowly and prayerfully read the devotion.
3. Journal what you sense the Holy Spirit is telling you.
Monday: Jesus knew his mission was “…to seek and save the lost.” (Luke 19:10). Alto’s mission is "to know Jesus and make Jesus known.” How would you state your mission? Write a short mission statement and list the ways you are living that mission. Write down what you sense the Holy Spirit is telling you.
Tuesday: Jesus had a vision of the church continuing His mission: “As you [the Father] sent me [Jesus] into the world, I have sent them into the world.” (John 17:18) Write the names of five people you believe God is sending you to. Pray for those people. Does God want you to do something for them or say something to them? Do it.
Wednesday: Jesus had plans to visit specific towns and reach more people. “After this the Lord appointed seventy-two others and sent them two by two ahead of him to every town and place where he was about to go.” (Luke 10:1 NIV) He had plans. What are your plans to live your mission? Tough question and the wrong question. What are God’s plans for you? Write down what you sense the Spirit wants you doing in the next couple years. What “good works” (Eph. 2:10) come to your mind?
Thursday: Jesus instructed his followers to pray for more missionaries… He told them, “The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field. Go! (Luke 10:2-3 NIV) That prayer request was immediately followed by a command to be a missionary. Are you willing to go? Are you willing to send out your kids, grandkids, or parents? Read Luke 9:57-62. What excuses are you giving Jesus? Write these down and ask God to help you move forward.
Friday: How long do you think the “72 others” had been following Jesus. They were likely first reached by the 12 who were sent out (Luke 9:1-6). Then they met Jesus… “When the apostles returned… Then he took them with him and they withdrew by themselves to a town called Bethsaida, 11 but the crowds learned about it and followed him. He welcomed them and spoke to them about the kingdom of God, and healed those who needed healing.” (Luke 9:10-11) We don’t know how many days they sat and listened to Jesus teach about the kingdom, but they certainly had some intensive courses with Jesus. How much time are you giving to Jesus? The 12 had three years of 24/7 training. That’s equivalent to 200 years of Sunday services. Our vision is to develop and deploy Christ-like leaders. Do you believe this is God’s direction for the church? Are you excited about this possibility? Journal some key thoughts God is giving you.

Once you’ve completed these devotions, let us know what God is saying to you regarding our vision and plans for additional staff.
