Discover your strengths, so you can serve well
By Pastor Kevin Van Wyk
Imagine your body parts functioning in the wrong place.
Imagine…
your foot functioning as your tongue,
your tongue functioning as your hand,
your hands functioning as your eyes,
your eyes functioning as your ears,
your ears functioning as your feet!
This would be a complete disaster. Walking on your ears just would not go well. But this is exactly what happens in churches, or worse… the tongue does everything while the other parts watch. Not good!
I love that Alto has many gifted people serving in many ways. Mostly in the right place. If anything, we have too many people serving in too many places. This causes burn out and also leads the inactive parts to believe they are not needed. Every part is needed!
4 For just as each of us has one body with many members, and these members do not all have the same function, 5 so in Christ we, though many, form one body, and each member belongs to all the others. 6 We have different gifts, according to the grace given to each of us. If your gift is prophesying, then prophesy in accordance with your faith; 7 if it is serving, then serve; if it is teaching, then teach; 8 if it is to encourage, then give encouragement; if it is giving, then give generously; if it is to lead, do it diligently; if it is to show mercy, do it cheerfully. (Rom 12:4-8)
The more members serve as they were designed by God to serve, the more effective the church will be. Will you do your part to help us make disciples?

Discover Service Opportunities |
Discovering your personality type, leadership style, and spiritual gifts at assessme.org will encourage you and the church. Why should you do the ministry mobilization assessment?
A. It will help you know your strengths and serve effectively. With this information, you will discover a profound freedom to say “no” to those service opportunities that do not best match your profile, and to say “yes” to opportunities that allow you to serve according to your God-ordained nature. B. It will also help the church mobilize for ministry as staff will be able see the results of each assessment and identify possible matches between ministry positions and members. C. It is FREE for you other than your time. It does take about 45 minutes to complete all four, but you can exit and log in later if you need. Contact the office for instructions on taking the assessment. |
