Kevin Van Wyk

Lead Pastor

kevin@altoreformedchurch.org

I have been in full-time ministry for over 20 years, serving as an associate pastor, lead pastor, and a church planter.  I love initiating and leading healthy change; studying and teaching the Bible; worshiping; and equipping others to lead.  My heart is to revitalize churches and plant new churches which will effectively equip the next generation to make disciples.

I met Stephanie, my wife, at Central College, where we both received degrees in Music Education and began leading worship.  We were married in 1994, a year after graduating, then moved to California where I received a Master’s of Divinity in 1999 from Fuller Theological Seminary.  During this time, I interned at Emmanuel Reformed Church in Paramount, CA.  Since then I have served in Sheboygan Falls, WI as the Associate Pastor; in Evansdale and Waterloo, IA as a Lead Pastor/Church Planter; and in Alto, WI as the Lead Pastor.  I also serve on the Classis of Wisconsin Servant (Executive) Team as the leader of the Revitalization Commission and the Multiplication Commission.

Stephanie has taught band in Janesville, IA and Long Beach, CA.  She has since received her certification to teach ELP (gifted students), taught part-time at Hoover Middle School in Waterloo, IA, taught piano lessons, tutored students with dyslexia, and assisted with a variety of ministries (including leading the children's ministry, playing piano, and discipling women).  Currently, Stephanie home schools our children.
  • Ian, born in 2001, has loved playing golf, basketball, baseball, soccer, trumpet, french horn, and percussion.
  • Zackary, born in 2003, has loved gymnastics (but retired in 2016) and playing basketball, but most of all he loves music (playing guitar, percussion, keyboard, and bass).
  • Elyssa, born in 2005, has loved caring for kids most of all, but she’s not afraid to compete with her brothers having been involved in gymnastics, dance, softball, basketball, choir, and playing keyboard and bass clarinet.

I look forward to walking with you and growing in our faith together.

Equipping Adults Pastor

doug@altoreformedchurch.org

I have been serving people in one capacity or another, my entire working life! Literally as a waiter in a restaurant, as a licensed professional clinical counselor, director of a men’s residential recovery center, and now as the Equipping Adults Pastor here at Alto Reformed Church. I love connecting with people and helping others connect with our Lord and seeing His Holy Spirit transform lives. I am here to lead the members of our congregation into a deeper love relationship with Jesus in order to glorify Him and reach the lost and dying world with the Gospel.

I have been married to my beautiful wife, Marlaina, for 13 years. We met in the summer of 2005 while attending Circleville Bible College (Now Ohio Christian University), and were married the following summer in July of 2006. Both of us completed our Bachelor of Arts degrees and graduated in the spring of 2009. After graduating I continued my education at Liberty University where I received my Master of Arts in Professional Counseling in September of 2011. Soon after I began working as a professional counselor for a community mental health agency, which lasted for three years until I was offered the position as a director of a men’s faith based residential recovery ministry called The Refuge Ohio. I was ordained by the Southern Ohio Ministerial Association (SOMA) in 2015, and eventually had a deeper desire to pursue full-time vocational ministry. This eventually led me to Alto where my family and I feel like we’ve been a part of the community our entire lives.

My wife has been my biggest supporter and is an amazingly gifted leader. She was an operations store manager for the Home Depot for several years before transitioning into an office manager position at the Ohio State University where she worked for five years. Most recently she was an office coordinator for the associate dean of research at the University of Kentucky, but coming to Wisconsin allows her the ability to do what her heart desires most, which is to primarily be home to care for our children during this precious season of life.

  • William, born in 2009, loves trucks, semis, and working on anything he can with his hands. He wants to be a truck driver and own his own company called 5 Star Trucks!
  • Victoria, born in 2011, is very intelligent and artistic. She draws, dances, sings, and is just like her momma! She loves spending time with friends and anything to do with animals.
  • Jeremiah, born in 2013, is so full of life and energy. He loves to wrestle, joke around, and has a very sensitive heart.

All of our kiddos love Jesus, ask many great questions, and are the Lord’s gift to us!

I love Jesus and want to continue growing in my relationship with Him and leading others to a deeper and more sincere faith than they know is possible!

Adrea Daane

Equipping Children & Families Director

adrea@altoreformedchurch.org

I have been serving as the Children and Families Director here for 7 years.  I transitioned into ministry after a 6-year teaching position at a local Christian school where I taught as their 3K/4K teacher as well as some elementary PE classes.  I have a passion for working with kids and sharing my faith as I go.  It is such a rewarding thing to watch kids grow in their faith and I feel blessed to be a part of a community who has a heart for equipping kids and their families in this journey.

My husband Nate and I grew up in Waupun and attended Dordt College together.  There I received a major in elementary education and minors in both special education and early childhood and Nate double majored in both accounting and finance.  After graduating in 2007, we were married a month later and came back to Waupun where he has worked in financial institutions in the mortgage and consumer lending field.  We have felt fortunate to come back to this community and our families to raise our kids.

  • Madelynn, born in 2012, our lady who is always singing a song, loves music and can be found participating in team sports such as softball and basketball.
  • Porter, born in 2013, our inquisitive child with questions to spare, is up for anything outdoors and loves animals, playing games, and swimming.
  • Bria, born in 2015, our avid baby-doll collector, has an imagination that wows us on a daily basis.
  • Davis, born in 2017, our on-the-go boy, never wants to miss out just because he’s the littlest and is constantly looking for ways to keep up with his older sisters and brother.

As a family we are entering the busy stage of life.  Our kids attend public school and are beginning their first years in different activities.  We are enjoying watching them blossom into who God wants them to be.   One of our favorite things as a family is taking time to get “up north” for fishing, swimming, “trompsing” through the woods, and cooking over the campfire.

I look forward to continuing this journey and growing with the families and kiddos I meet!

Jessa Ter Beest

Equipping Youth Director

jessa@altoreformedchurch.org

I have been serving in Alto as the Equipping Youth Director for 6 and a half years. I grew up at Alto Reformed so when the position opened as I was graduating from college I felt God’s strong pull back to this community.
I attended Trinity International University receiving my bachelors in Elementary Education in 2013, but as I applied and interviewed for teaching jobs, God spoke so clearly to me that youth ministry in Alto is where He wanted me to be. God showed me in that decision-making process that He knows me so much better than I know myself, because I could not have picked a job better suited to my personality and love for Jesus. The middle and high school students at Alto are incredible. They have a hunger for Jesus and love to ask tough questions. I grow in my faith with every moment spent with them and I am so grateful for that.

God has given me a great love for both singing and travel and I am so thankful to use both of those passions in this position. Alto gives me that opportunity through singing on praise teams and directing the Junior Choir as well as leading mission trips both within the United States and to Jamaica.

With my vacation time I enjoy visiting college friends who have settled around the country and taking trips with friends. My favorite so far has been Iceland for my 28th birthday. God has made my single life so incredibly fulfilling and wonderful.

I look forward to watching God work in and through Alto as we grow as a staff.

Megan Vande Zande

Office Administrator

office@altoreformedchurch.org

I have been the office administrator here at Alto Reformed Church since 2016.  Prior to this I was the office manager at a chiropractic office, but when this position opened at church, I knew it was exactly where I needed to be and felt that God had prepared me for the change.  I enjoy working with the various ministries throughout the church.

My husband, Klint, and I grew up in Waupun, started dating in high school, and have been married since 2008.  Klint received his Associate Degree at Fox Valley Technical College as an Ag Repair Technician and I received my Associate Degree at Moraine Park Technical College as a Chiropractic Technician and Chiropractic Radiologic Technician.  Klint works as a mechanic at a local cable boring company.  He is also a volunteer firefighter, farms on the side, and enjoys hunting.  He recently built his own pulling tractor and we enjoy going to pulls together as a family.  In my spare time, I enjoy reading or doing anything that involves quality time as a family.

We are blessed with two boys:
  • Klayton, born in 2011, enjoys reading and hunting.  He has a competitive spirit for any sport he plays especially baseball, football, and wrestling.
  • Karter, born in 2013, loves being outside especially if it involves hunting or farming with Dad or a game with his brother.
Both boys attend public school in Waupun.  They certainly keep us busy and we’re enjoying this season of life.

I look forward to continuing to build relationships and work alongside you.
